Antioch Cemetery

Specific Need

We would like to thank everyone who gave so generously to the Antioch Cemetery at the first Match Day in 2018.  We had no idea we would need several thousand dollars in less than a year because of storm damage to the cemetery on July 10 & 11, 2019.  Again, Thank you!   (picture of damage)

The Antioch Cemetery was established in 1867 and is located southwest of Frankfort.  It was charterd by the state of Kansas in 1879, and remains one of the oldest non-profit cemeteries in the state having been incorporated for almost 140 years.

It has no paid employees, and a five meber board governing and maintaining it as well as two other small cemeteries nearby.  They are the Wells and Proctor family cemeteries.  Antioch is an active cemetery with anywhere from 7 to 12 burials a year.  Most of the work is voluntary and it depends heavily on monetary gifts from families and descendants in the Frankfort area.

Every Memorial Day our past and present veterans are honored with an Avenue of Flags and serverices by the Frankfort American Legion.
