Friends of Vermillion Community, Inc. Fund

Specific Need

Special fundraising goals:  Cleaning up Vermillion - abandoned properties and vehicles, and trash-both of which are environmental and health issues for Vermillion. In 2022 we were gifted the former United Methodist Church which we have converted it into our community center. In 2024, our building was added to both the State and National Historical Societies.

We have identified several projects for our community center such as a new roof, replacing the foundation, restoring the beautiful stained glass windows, inside and outside painting.

Our Community Center has  been used for family gatherings, weddings, funerals, community events, live entertainment, community meals and community meetings. Having a safe environment for people to enjoy food and fellowship can be an important asset to our community.

Mission

Friends of Vermillion is a non-profit organization that has initiated and supported over $30,000 in projects for more than 14 years. Monies are generated by both donations and fund-raising.  Vermillion recently celebrated 150 years as a town and that celebration over Memorial Day Weekend was well-attended by surrounding towns. We continue to have several fund raising events throughout the year.

All projects are in keeping with our Mission Statement:  To assist in the preservation, maintenance, and beautification of Vermillion community historic sites such as the railroad depot, library, school, city monuments, parks, community center and related environs.  It is also the mission of the corporation to support and assist in further restoration and sustain Vermillion community's historic sites and the role such sites played in the development of the community and help our community to thrive for our current and future needs.
