The mission of the Friends of the Library is to support and cooperate with the Library board and staff in developing, maintaining and enhancing the library facilities, resources and services to our community.

Profile

The Friends of the Frankfort City Library Fund was established in 2018 to support the Frankfort City Library. The Friends in cooperation with the library board and staff have been working to establish the library as a place that enhances the attractiveness of the Frankfort community as a place to live, work and visit. Things to do are limited in a small town so the library tries to provide a welcoming place to go with fun and educational activites for all ages. The library has an extensive materials collection available but it also provides a place for kids to gather after school and on vacation days. Our youth programming includes movie days, crafts, video games, STEAM Club and special themed events. The library also provides the adults in our community a place to put together a puzzle, read the paper or enjoy a free cup of coffee. The library averages 265 adults and 739 youth visits per month. We also check out 400-500 materials monthly to our patrons. Specific needs for 2026 are a hanging projector for use during movie days and special presentations and new shelves for our bookcases. The shelves have become worn and warped over time and often fall from their support brackets causing a mess and also being a safety concern for our patrons. A donation to the Frankfort City Library Friends is a direct way to supoort our library and help us maintain our free programming for the citizens of our community.
