Frankfort Janes Community Service and Beautification Project

Profile

Frankfort Janes is a community service organization which began in the late 1970s. Over the years, we have participated in many community events. Currently, we sponsor the Summerfest Parade, award a FHS scholarship yearly, sponsor a Halloween parade and contest at FallFest, organize a visit from Santa with our Soup & Santa event and have a holiday candy sale to create funds.

In January 2018, we also sponsored a speaker to talk with our junior high and high school students about human trafficking. In the past, we’ve sponsored a Halloween party, a holiday dinner and have printed two cookbooks, among other things.

One of our most noticeable projects though, has been our downtown cleanup and landscaping. We currently take care of the north and west ‘Welcome to Frankfort’ signs, the downtown mural area, the Frankfort Jail and the corner of Hale Repair. We have spent many hours sweeping, pulling/spraying weeds and cleaning up our downtown as well as planting and watering the flower pots on the four corners of our downtown square. We have also purchased the banners that hang on the square and welcome people to our community.

We have several ideas of things we’d like to add to our downtown. One of those is new street lighting on decorative posts, similar to those from years past. Frankfort Janes would appreciate any donation to aid our projects.
